Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Reason for a 5 star service review, the waiter and waitress were very polite and professional, even when they were having trouble finding our booking, they were cheerful. The food I have to say was delicious, I had the pulled pork burger, very nice, but a little bit more messy then I would like, my partner and daughter had the pulled pork bao buns and they enjoyed that, my son had the beef burger and his words were and I quote, “this is the best burger I’ve ever had”. So service and food is definitely a 10/10, highly recommend"
"One of our local spots. Generally we’ve had very yummy food. Their ribs are great. However during our last visit we found everything overly sweet. All 3 drinks, and the bbq pulled pork roti canai, extremely sweet for no reason. If they balance that out, it’s quite flavourful. Didn’t like the madras curry, the base didn’t have any spices. Service and ambience was good."
"Ordered the “I Can’t Decide” platter. Honestly, the best choice I could’ve made! Every single item on the plate was packed with flavour, beautifully presented, and so fresh. I genuinely cannot fault a thing. The service was absolutely amazingly warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. From start to finish, everything felt effortless and welcoming. If you’re ever unsure what to order, the “I Can’t Decide” platter is a must-try. I’ll definitely be back, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!"
"Came here for a date with my wife using first table. Food was delish, we just ordered too much for our small appetites but was worth it as we left with full tummies and big smiles. Arrived and greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us at table. Ambience and lighting is soft and decor rustic, the time we came in the afternoon was great as not too busy and quiet so still able talk and chat without too much noise. Note when you use first table they do have some rules; some menu items you can’t order, can’t be seated at the booths and can’t take leftovers. Once seated I ordered drinks and she served us a flask of complimentary water. We ordered pork bao buns, korean chicken wings and wedges. The bao buns were devine; crispy pork and fresh salad and mayo dressing. At that point after a few wedges we were pretty much done as the portions are quite large. But we still had the chicken wings to try so we had about 1 each and wow crispy and spicy best combo, unfortunately we just didn’t have the appetite to give it justice. If we came in a group setting and did share plates, we probably would have been able to try more dishes and not get so full so fast. Definitely a must try if you’re in New Lynn. Food, service and venue is onnn!"
"Nice dinner, we booked with first table so the value was great - had three dishes shared between 2 of us and it was way too much. The bao were nice, calamari was good even thought the batter fell off easily. Greek lamb burger (lettuce buns) was quite salty and dense, it was good I think I just don’t like it. Overall happy and well fed."
"We were here with a group of 12 and booked a table. The food was very nice. Had to wait a bit as it was very busy. Great staff member who put a lot of effort in sorting out a wobbly table. Thanks for that. Love the colour of the aqua coloured drink glasses."
"It was a good atmosphere not too crowded, the food was lovely, specifically the ribs and chicken bao buns were great. I do wish the chicken bao buns had a little more Sriracha but the ribs were fall off the bone. The drink choices were varied enough, you'll find something you like. It is a bit pricey but you can always book a first or last table offer online ."
"I’ve been to Kage a couple of times, and every item on the menu is absolutely delicious! My favorites are the creamy pesto pasta and the calamari — they’re always amazing. The staff are also incredibly friendly, accommodating, and make the dining experience even better. I really love this restaurant and always look forward to coming back."
